“The current data on the epidemiological situation shows that the Czech Republic can avoid a tough lockdown, similar to the one in Israel”, said the new Minister of Health Jan Blatn? in an interview with Pr?vo.

“The measures introduced are, in my opinion, significant. If the situation cannot be reversed by anything other than tougher measures, I will support them. However, the numbers I see now suggest that a hard lockdown will not be necessary,” Blatn? added.

PRAGUE (Reuters) - The Czech Republic reported 6,048 new coronavirus cases for Nov. 9, a drop of more 3,000 from a week earlier, Health Ministry data showed on Tuesday.

In total, the country of 10.7 million has recorded 420,875 cases after showing one of Europe’s highest infection rates for several weeks.

PRAGUE (Reuters) - The Czech Republic reported on Sunday a further decline in the number of COVID-19 infections and deaths from daily highs seen in early November, but the country remains among the hardest hit in Europe during this second wave of the pandemic.

Health ministry data showed 4,199 new cases were reported on Saturday, down by more than 3,500 from the same day a week earlier, amid tough lockdown measures, with 132 new fatalities, which includes revisions to previous days.

The total number of cases in the country of 10.7 million since the start of the pandemic now stands at 458,229. The death toll stands at 6,058, a tenfold increase since late September.
