Cuba reported 69 deaths from influenza virus A (H1N1) since its introduction on the island, in May 2009, said local media on 10.
The number of confirmed cases rises to 1243, according to reports from the authorities of the sector to the Pan American Health Organization released during the weekly "Trabajadores".
Cuba developed last April a national vaccination campaign against the flu, during which the dose received over a million people (about 10 percent of the population) selected because of their greater vulnerability or risk for complications from the virus.
Among the target groups included pregnant women, children and health workers fighting the pandemic.
The vaccine was donated by the World Health Organization and is provided free.
Officials say the pandemic virus A (H1N1) "continues to rise" in Cuba, where in recent weeks shifted from the circulation to other pathogens. The epidemiology of the island authorities insist on their appeals to people to go to health centers for any manifestation of a sore throat, fever, severe headache and malaise. (Xinhua)
