Cuba protects pregnant from virus of H1N1
Havana, Dec 16 .- A clinical-epidemiological surveillance of pregnant and postpartum women (new mothers) in the search for respiratory symptoms is done in Cuba because of the aggressiveness of the H1N1 virus with this population sector.


This unprecedented effort the country's health system, health personnel and other sectors has been organized since last September when looking at the ability of H1N1 to produce severe lung injury within hours.

Doris Sierra Perez, Acting National Director of Primary Care Public Health Ministry, said the 65 thousand 456 women pregnant in the country, and 16 thousand 507 puerperal women averaged 96 percent, are visited daily.

He said of them, 12 thousand 065 have required hospitalization.

The doctor noted the dedication and service of health workers, including medical students incorporated into this work, which helps to save quite a few lives.

Also commended the support of political and mass organizations and other sectors of society, united by the political will of the revolutionary government, which values the health of the population as the first of human rights. (ACN).
