Cuba decided to strengthen hygienic and sanitary measures in this area
before a possible second outbreak of the A H1N1 virus in the world.
In a meeting presided over by the first secretary of the Communist
Party of the province, Teresa Amarelle, health authorities made emphasis
on the need to strictly follow hygienic and sanitary measures to avoid a
possible second outbreak of the disease in Cuba. Special emphasis was made on establishing a system of medical
surveillance to control the situation in offices, enterprises, schools,
bus stations, public transportation means and other places where people
usually gather.
Health Ministry's representative in Las Tunas, Marcos del Risco, said
it was important to avoid physical contact when greeting a person,
talking too close to other people and access to rooms of people with any
respiratory infections, as the disease is transmitted orally.
Children and pregnant women, along with people suffering from
respiratory diseases like asthma have a higher risk of being infected
with the A H1N1 Influenza virus, which spreads more during the rainy
season and the winter, Del Risco explained.
Participants in the meeting said the role of the media in promoting
preventive measures and keeping the population informed on the state of
the pandemic that already affects 188 nations is vital.:tiphat:
