Occurrence of avian influenza subtype H5N1 in poultry in the area of Zagreb County

On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, avian influenza subtype H5N1 was confirmed in a poultry facility in the area of the town of Ivanić Grad in Zagreb County.

The pathogenicity of the virus is being determined. Immediately upon receiving the suspicion of the disease, the State Inspectorate of the Republic of Croatia ordered the implementation of disease control and eradication measures on the facility (killing of the remaining poultry, cleaning and disinfection of the facility, etc.). The decision also determined the restriction zones in which measures will be implemented for the purpose of early detection and prevention of further spread of the disease.
