Vaccines will be given free of cost at govt centres. Amount people will need to pay in private hospitals will be decided by health ministryin 3-4 days, says Union minister Prakash Javadekar.

Union minister Prakash Javadekar said on Wednesday that people above 60 years of age and those above 45 years of age with comorbidities will be vaccinated across 10,000 government and over 20,000 private vaccination centres from March 1. "The vaccine will be given free of cost at govt centres," Javadekar said, adding that those who want to get vaccinated from private hospitals will have to pay.

Who is paying for the vaccines?

Vaccination is voluntary. State-run clinics and hospitals are offering free jabs, but people can also pay 250 rupees ($3.4; ?2.4) a dose at private facilities.

From 11 April, the government allowed people to get paid jabs at private and state-run workplaces.
