This from WCAX news. County fairs are a big thing in Vermont. All of my students go to the Rutland County Fair - a very crowded event. All of those sweaty people standing cheek to cheek in lines, breathing on each other. No pigs, though.

Caledonia County Fair Bans Pigs

There will be no pigs at the Caledonia County Fair this year. The Board voted in June to ban swine, because of concerns over swine flu.

Board members say they know that pigs are not spreading the H1N1 virus, but chose to ban pigs because of public concern over the virus. The Fair Director also said they feared lawsuits from fair patrons if they contracted the flu.
