The government of Costa Rica will not import new doses of the vaccine against the influenza H1N1 because the totality of the population was already covered in risk, announced this Tuesday the minister of Health, Maria Luisa Avila.
The official pointed out that the first import, realized in last January and of 200.000 doses, allowed to immunize the persons with chronic illnesses that cover major risk of dying because of complications provoked by the porcine influenza.
' From now on we will buy the seasonal vaccine that has a minor cost and that surely is going to contain the immunization against the H1N1 ', told Avila.
The minister made sure that Costa Rica ' did not pay caprices ' for the first lot of vaccines against the flu H1N1, because ' they were bought across the joint fund of the WHO '.
In last February, the authorities of the Costa Rican Box of the Social Insurance (CCSS) admitted to have difficulties to apply the vaccine in his centers of medical attention, because the patients were refusing to receive it.
The rejection, according to the medical manager of the CCSS, Rosa Climent, is influenced by publications in Internet that they alert on effective negative of vaccine assumptions.
