Two More Deaths Of AH1N1 In Costa Rica Confirmed

While the ministerio de Salud waits on the first delivery of the AH1N1 vaccine, two more people have been confirmed to have died from the AH1N1 flu, bringing the total deaths in Costa Rica to 40.

The latest victims are two Nicaraguan women who suffered from obesity.

One of the victims was diabetic and suffered from hypertension. She is only being identified a 51 year old woman from San Ram?n, Alajuela. The other woman was 33 years old and a resident of Heredia.

However, the good news is that the number of people in hospital from the AH1N1 is down 40%, bringing the total number in hospital at 50.

Some 200.000 doses of the vaccine is expected to arrive in Costa Rica in December, far short of the 1.9 million doses requested by the Health ministry.

The ministra de Salud, Maria Luisa Avila, said that Costa Rica is being alloted only 900.000 doses and those in the high risk group will receive the vaccine shot first.

There is no charge for the vaccination in Costa Rica.
