Health Secretary Jose Angel Cordova Villalobos, considered consistent the measure taken by the Federal District government to raise the level to yellow health alert by the influenza A (H1N1).

In a statement, in charge of health policy in Mexico said that with this measure strengthens all preventive measures to avoid infection with this new virus among inhabitants of Mexico City.

He said that some days the Health Secretariat (SSA) raised the federal alert level across the country through, because there has been an increased number of cases in different states.

He stressed that this level of health alert does not involve the suspension of economic, educational, social or otherwise, but extreme measures like frequent hand washing, sneezing protected with tissue or inside the elbow, cleaning of surfaces, not touching your face clothing and hygiene.

Cordova Villalobos urged people to practice preventive measures, but mostly go to the doctor when the person has symptoms of respiratory illness.

The goal is that if you have risk factors, are given immediate treatment with antiviral and never self-medicate with antibiotics.

Influenza is an illness that if treated early it is curable and therefore urged the people, especially to chronically ill, go immediately to the nearest health unit and keep it simple and may even cause death.

The influenza virus A (H1N1) is transmitted through saliva droplets expelled by sick people talking, coughing, sneezing, sharing eating utensils, food and kissing when greeting.

The virus survives for 48 to 72 hours on porous surfaces like hands, door handles, railings, tissues and fabrics, hence the need to wash their hands frequently and disinfect.
