Rabies confirmed in 6th bat in Larimer County

Larimer County Department of Health and Environment officials have confirmed that a sixth bat in the county has tested positive for rabies.
The department tests only those bats that have had interactions with humans and pets; they don?t test those that have only been identified as being on the ground or acting in an unusual manner, said Jane Viste, spokeswoman for the department.
Of the six, one of the bats testing positive was found in Loveland, although a specific location was not disclosed. Elsewhere in the county, four of the rabid bats were found in Fort Collins, including the Old Town neighborhood, and a sixth rabid bat was found in Timnath.
