First Eagle County resident dies from COVID-19, fifth death in the state

EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — On Saturday, Eagle County Public Health and Environment confirmed an Eagle County resident has died from COVID-19.

The resident was a male in his 60s, with underlying health conditions.

He died at a Denver-area hospital.

This marks the fifth death in Colorado from COVID-19. As of Friday, there were 364 positive cases, along with 44 hospitalizations. ..

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- El Paso County Public Health has reported the third death from COVID-19 in the county.

The individual was a man in his 70s, said health officials Saturday afternoon. The county's first virus victim was a woman in her 80s and the second was a man in his 60s.

No other information about the third victim was immediately available...

Colorado health officials confirmed two additional deaths and 112 new cases of the coronavirus Saturday as the highly infectious illness continues to spread throughout the state.

The deaths include an Eagle County man in his 60s with underlying health conditions and an El Paso County man in his 70s, local health officials reported. The Eagle County man was identified by friends and family as Rod Powell, a Vail musician, the Vail Daily reported.

The influx of positive COVID-19 cases Saturday brings the state to 475 cases, with 49 people hospitalized. Six people have died, including three in El Paso County.

A seventh person in Colorado has died from the new coronavirus as the number of people infected with the disease in the state has ballooned to nearly 600. The death announced Sunday is the fifth fatality in four days.

Weld County public health officials announced on Sunday that a woman in her 70s died from COVID-19, which is caused by the coronavirus.

She is the second Weld County resident to die from the infection caused by the coronavirus...

Teller County health officials announced Tuesday that the novel coronavirus played a part in a resident’s death, the 10th death in Colorado connected to the highly infectious respiratory illness.

Officials did not give details as to the age or gender or any underlying health conditions the person may have had.

The state confirmed a new total of 24 deaths on Thursday — up five from the previous day — with local health officials announcing two on their own. State data lags a day behind the actual numbers, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment says on its COVID-19 webpage.

The deaths have impacted communities up and down the Front Range and into the high country. El Paso County has recorded seven coronavirus-related deaths, the most in the state, while Boulder and Pitkin counties on Thursday announced their first deaths related to the illness.
