Missouriwatcher

Editor, Senior Moderator
Week 40: No Activity
? No influenza-associated hospitalizations have been confirmed since the official beginning of
the 2011-12 influenza season. The confirmed case of Influenza A (H3) previously mentioned
in a Mesa County press release was travel-related and will not be included in our 2011/12 case
counts due to the diagnosis date being prior to the official surveillance period.

remained similar to summer ?baseline? levels at less than 1.0%. Influenza-like illness reported
by Mesa County was near 0%.
? There were no PCR-confirmed specimens tested for the period 10/2-10/8, by the state

Re: Colorado 2011-2012 Flu Season: Weeks 40-7

Week 7:
There are indications of some influenza activity in most parts of the state. Influenza A/H3N2 continues to be the predominant circulating strain.

• There were 31 additional hospitalizations reported, 12 from the previous week (week ending 2/11/12) and 19 from the most recent week. The cumulative total of hospitalizations is 168 from 28 counties. Due to reporting delays, it is expected that the number of influenza-associated hospitalizations for the week ending 2/18 will increase as cases diagnosed between 2/12– 2/18 are subsequentlyreported.
