2009 H1N1 most prevalent
Influenza activity remained high, with several indicators consistent with peak activity.
? Through the week ending February 12th, a cumulative total to 425 hospitalizations has been
reported from 36 counties. Due to delays in reporting, it is difficult to determine the peak in
reported hospitalizations until at least two weeks later.

? Influenza-Like Illness levels reported by Kaiser Permanente for the Denver-Boulder
metropolitan area increased slightly from 2.7% to 2.8%. Influenza-like Illness levels reported
by Mesa County increased substantially from 1.2% to 1.9%.

? Sentinel hospital labs (17/17 reporting) tested 1135 specimens and 22.7% were positive
(69% for Type A) compared to 23.3% the previous week. During the past two weeks, PCR
typing and subtyping of submitted specimens (primarily from hospitalized patients) to the state
laboratory indicates: H3N2 ? 41%; 2009 H1N1 ? 45%; Type B ? 14%.

? A total of 18 outbreaks (17 LTCF and 1 detention center) have been reported.
