According to local health authorities, because of this situation they are 26 children and five adults died.
The Ministry of Health Department of La Guajira declared yellow alert for the increase in cases of these diseases and also for the situation which is recorded due to the crisis of the border with Venezuela. "These cases are increasing and the concern is large due to the arrival of sick Venezuelans from the neighboring country to La Guajira, thus aggravating the epidemiological emergency," said Ingrid Herrera Caballero, coordinator of the Center for Regulation of Emergency Department . Given the above, Herrera gave some recommendations, including: "no hugs and kisses greet people infected, not sharing cups, plates or cutlery and no food, because through these elements these diseases are acquired".
