With almost 12,000 positives, Colombia exceeds 350,000 COVID-19 infections

Bogot?, Aug 6 (EFE) .- The COVID-19 pandemic does not reach a ceiling in Colombia, where this Thursday it marked a record of 11,996 new cases that brought the total number of infections to 357,710, the Ministry of Health reported just the day that Five months have passed since the confirmation of the first infected in the country.

Today's bulky number of infections placed Colombia in fourth place among the countries of the world in daily infected, surpassed only by the United States, Brazil and India.

According to the health authority, there are still 152,671 active cases in the country, corresponding to 42.68%, while the recovered cases are 192,355, equivalent to 53.77%.

During the day, 315 deaths were reported, which brought the deaths from coronavirus to 11,939 in Colombia, which means that 3.33% of those infected have lost their lives.

Of the 315 deaths, 114 were in Bogot?, the main focus of the pandemic in the country, followed by the Valle del Cauca departments (35), of which 22 occurred in Cali, its capital; Antioquia (24), Santander (22), Norte de Santander (21), C?rdoba and Magdalena (16), Atl?ntico (15) and Nari?o (9).

NEGATIVE ANNIVERSARY IN BOGOT?

On the day of commemoration of the 482 anniversary of its foundation, the Colombian capital not only had the highest number of deaths but also a record 6,068 positive cases.

In this way, Bogot? remains on alert with 123,875 of the country's infections, which represent 34.63% of the total.

On the day, 40,063 tests were carried out, bringing the samples processed in the country to 1,801,835.

This Saturday, deaths from coronavirus in Colombia reached 12,540, while infections reached 376,870 registered cases, after five months of the pandemic.

The total number of recovered patients, on the other hand, reached 204,591.

This balance of the health authorities comes after 290 deaths and 9,674 new cases of contagion were registered in the last hours.

Most of the new cases of contagion in this Saturday's report are located in Bogot?, where there were 3,485. They are followed by Antioquia (1,505), Valle (487), C?rdoba (470), Norte de Santander (439), and Santander (410).

It is also Bogot? where there were more deaths: 97, while in Antioquia there were 46 and in Norte de Santander 23.

The Ministry of Health confirmed 312 more deaths from covid-19 in Colombia. With this update, the number of deaths in the country rises to 13,154.

This Monday, August 10, the health authority also reports 10,142 new infections in the last 24 hours, after 33,619 tests were processed throughout the country. It is worth mentioning that, since the first case (confirmed on March 6), 1,942,730 samples have been processed in the country.

Thus, the country reaches 397,623 confirmed coronavirus cases.

To date, Bogot? is the city with the most cases. The capital reached the figure of 136,764 confirmed infections after 3,376 more cases were confirmed in this Monday's report

The other territorial entities that registered the most cases in the last 24 hours were Antioquia (2,471), C?rdoba (745), Barranquilla (323), Valle del Cauca (310) and Cundinamarca (269).

This report from the Ministry of Health also indicates that, in the last 24 hours, 8,797 recovered patients were confirmed. Thus, there are already 221,485 patients who, to date, have overcome covid-19 in Colombia.
