WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) ? A mumps outbreak is under investigation by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

According to information posted by Westminster Fire Department, six residents in northeast Denver and northwest Aurora have the mumps.

DENVER ? A mumps outbreak in Colorado has nearly doubled in size over the past week, according to state health officials.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment told Denver7 Tuesday that there have been 26 cases of mumps in the state since the beginning of the year. Twenty-two of the cases are linked to an outbreak in the Denver metro area...

DENVER - Public health officials are seeing a large increase in mumps cases reported in Colorado, especially in the Denver metro area.

So far, 14 cases of mumps have been reported in Colorado this year--as compared to 17 reported cases in all of 2016. People in the Denver metro area account for 11 of the 14 cases this year.

The outbreak is being investigated by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Denver Public Health, and Tri-County Health Department. Because the investigation is ongoing, officials expect the number of mumps cases will grow...

Steamboat Springs ? A Colorado mumps outbreak focused on the Front Range reached 49 cases last week, though the contagious disease has yet to reach the Yampa Valley this year.

DENVER ? The number of mumps cases in Colorado continues to grow and has surpassed the state record amid an outbreak that has spread through several states.

Health officials on Friday said they?d registered a total of 53 cases of mumps in the state since Jan. 1, 2017. The old record was 51 cases following an outbreak in 2006.

Colorado averages just 5.6 cases a year. Last year, there were 17 cases...

Garfield County Public Health is investigating four reported mumps cases among residents. The cases all involve adults and stem from the same initial exposure.
