BOULDER -- Boulder County Public Health has confirmed 37 cases of pertussis, also known as whooping cough, in county residents this year.

As of Wednesday, those cases included 12 residents of Boulder, 11 Longmont residents and 14 people who live in other parts of eastern Boulder County, according to health department spokeswoman Chana Goussetis...

...Officially, the CDPHE said there have been 1,026 reports of whooping cough to date, with Denver (165), Jefferson (154) and Adams (151) counties leading the way.

The last time the state saw more than 1,000 reported cases of the illness was 2005, when 1,383 cases were reported. The state typically average 324 cases per year, according to the CDPHE...

Whooping Cough Confirmed at Elementary Schools

11 News has confirmed an outbreak of whooping cough at elementary schools in Southern Colorado.

A letter went out to parents to let them know that two students from two different elementary schools have whooping cough.

The illness was discovered at Desert Sage Elementary and Sierra Vista Elementary in Pueblo...

As of Dec. 8, 1,407 cases of whopping cough have been reported in Colorado, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment said Tuesday. That's the highest number on record since 1948, when there were 1,833 cases...
