Clock ticking for Haitian aid effort

Updated 3 hours 32 minutes ago

The survival chances of hundreds thousands of Haitians hang in the balance as governments and agencies scramble to get supplies into the country, in ruins after Tuesday's horrific earthquake.

The aid effort is reaching a critical juncture, with experts warning inroads must be made in the next 24 hours in order to stop the death toll from soaring.

The earthquake has left much of the country's already meagre infrastructure destroyed, and Haitians are growing desperate for basic supplies as the search for survivors continues.
