OKLAHOMA CITY ? The Oklahoma State Department of Health says a Cleveland County adolescent has died of medical complications from the swine flu.

Health officials said Thursday that the teenager?s death is the third swine flu death in Oklahoma since the outbreak began in the spring and the first of someone under 18.

Officials said those who died had underlying medical conditions that put them at high risk of complications from influenza.

The Health Department has received 67 reports of hospitalizations due to the swine flu. Officials say 40 of those reports have come in the past week and 39 of the 67 hospitalizations have been of patients under 19.

Health Commissioner Terry Cline says schools are screening and sending children home who have fever and respiratory symptoms.
