Although Health Authorities are yet to officially declare a flu outbreak, health officials are seeing a sharp increase in patients with influenza-like symptoms.

It seems like everyone you speak to in Honiara suffer from aching throats, dripping noses, chills and fever.

Christmas 2010 seem to be the quietest yet, seeing that many spent their Christmas at the hospital outpatient, or at private clinics.

According to doctors and pharmacists throughout Honiara, the number of influenza cases has risen in the last two weeks. Many reported seeing a sharp increase in the past week alone.

Although Health Authorities are yet to officially declare a flu outbreak, health officials are seeing a sharp increase in patients with influenza-like symptoms...

Patients Disappointed With Response from Health Authorities

Hundreds of patients suffering from flu like symptoms are unhappy with the level of response by health authorities in the past few weeks.

In what appears to be a flu outbreak, patients at the National Referral Hospital say that the hospital was obviously ill prepared to respond to such an outbreak...

Saturday, 08 January 2011 09:48 .The Christmas celebration has truly been disrupted by the flu like fever that swept through the country during the festive season.

Many people enjoyed their holidays but for some, the flu has caused havoc to their plans.

At Visale, Saghalu ward, North West Guadalcanal, eight people died as a result of the flu.
The eight were more than 50 year-olds.
