CHP verifies with NHFPC two additional human cases of avian influenza A(H7N9) in Zhejiang


Hong Kong (HKSAR) - The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH) verified with the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) today (January 12) two additional human cases of avian influenza A(H7N9) in Zhejiang.

Regarding the first case, the patient is a 78-year-old male who is now in critical condition. He is currently receiving treatment in a hospital in Hangzhou. His specimen was laboratory confirmed on January 11.

The second case involves a man aged 34 who is in serious condition.

He is now receiving treatment in a hospital in Ningbo. His specimen was laboratory confirmed today.

As of 9pm today, a total of 165 human cases of avian influenza A(H7N9) have been confirmed in the Mainland, including Zhejiang (58 cases), Shanghai (36 cases), Jiangsu (30 cases), Guangdong (14 cases), Jiangxi (six cases), Fujian (six cases), Anhui (four cases), Henan (four cases), Beijing (two cases), Hunan (two cases), Shandong (two cases) and Hebei (one case).
