The Papua New Guinea Health Minister, Sasa Zibe, is considering declaring a state of emergency in Menyamya District, where media reports say 177 people have died in a triple outbreak of dysentery, influenza and cholera. Mr Zibe has been requested to make the declaration by the Morobe Province governor. Last night the Minister met defence force officials and health experts in Port Moresby. He's also instructed the deputy health secretary to travel to Menyamya from Tewai-Siassi District, where there's an ongoing cholera outbreak.
