After the detection of a case of cholera in the community of Cerro de Ortega, Tecoman, the Ministry of Health and Welfare has deployed a brigade to carry out actions of surveillance , protection against health risks and health promotion, in order to prevent the spread of disease.
In a colony of the rural community was recorded on Wednesday a positive case of cholera (Vibrio cholerae) type 1 in a female patient.
The state health secretary, Agust?n Lara Esqueda, said an epidemiological fence was implemented at the site, where they visited house to house 143 residents of 29 homes of the site and surveyed a total of 36 families who samples were taken with a rectal swab and were ministered antimicrobial prophylaxis.
Also, to protect against health risks, is cloraron 40 000 900 liters of water in 29 tanks, 116 bottles were distributed colloidal silver, were given 5 tablets of chlorine to each family visited, benefiting a total of 145 people, plus the train use of them; water sample was taken for submission to the State Laboratory and 10 samples were taken for quick test of Colilert.
Lara Esqueda said that during the course of the health brigade was not observed in the open air defecation, but the colony does not have sewer service and has septic tank. It has no municipal water network and this is hauled from wells by a pipe.
As for health promotion were given 20 talks personified on the proper handling, preparation and preservation of food and basic sanitation; 200 leaflets were delivered alluding to the conservation and food preparation and cleaning of water tanks and cisterns, and gave a talk to the inhabitants of this colony on hand washing, disinfection of fruits and vegetables, benefiting a total of 150 people.
