On the afternoon of June 19, Xiping County People's Hospital organized a simulated emergency response drill for lower respiratory tract infection outbreaks in the respiratory and critical care medicine ward. The drill was conducted in the form of on-site practical operations. After receiving the report, the Infection Control Management Department rushed to the scene to conduct an epidemiological investigation, jointly with the Medical Laboratory Department to conduct environmental sampling, organize patient isolation, and guide the implementation of various emergency measures. The hospital director and relevant functional departments were informed, and the Medical Department quickly organized a team of experts to conduct consultations and discussions, carry out medical treatment, and assist in finding the source and route of infection; the Nursing Department immediately instructed the nursing staff to implement disinfection and isolation measures.
The drill demonstrated contents such as "incident reporting, preliminary investigation, activation of emergency plan, measures and disposal, record evaluation, and final analysis".
At the end of the drill, the hospital leaders and experts present made comments, affirmed the process, steps and methods of the drill, and pointed out the shortcomings. Afterwards, Zhang Cuihua, the head of the Infection Control Management Section, used some actual examples of hospital infection to explain in detail to the observers the handling and reporting process of hospital infection outbreaks. This drill has improved the emergency response capabilities of medical staff to sudden incidents, enhanced the medical staff's awareness of hospital infection prevention and control, strengthened the spirit of unity and cooperation among various teams and departments , and enabled medical staff to master the concept of hospital infection outbreaks and the emergency response process, so that they can respond calmly, with clear ideas, quick responses, adequate measures, and standardized handling when dealing with hospital infection outbreaks, thus achieving the expected purpose.
