(Reporter Zhang Hua) Recently, the Department of Critical Care Medicine at Xi'an Fifth Hospital successfully treated a critically ill patient with severe pneumonia complicated by multiple organ dysfunction, demonstrating the hospital's strength and precision in the field of emergency and critical care by leveraging its efficient multidisciplinary collaboration model.
The patient was rushed to Xi'an Fifth Hospital due to altered mental status accompanied by fever and cough for two hours. Upon admission, the patient presented with severe respiratory failure, multiple organ ischemia and hypoxia leading to altered mental status, and widespread lung infection, with inflammatory markers reaching extremely high levels. More seriously, the patient also suffered from multiple complications, including cerebral infarction, myocardial damage, electrolyte imbalance, acid-base imbalance, moderate anemia, and severe malnutrition, making the complexity and severity of the condition exceptionally rare. The Intensive Care Unit of Xi'an Fifth Hospital quickly activated its emergency response plan for critically ill patients, ultimately finalizing a systematic and individualized comprehensive treatment plan. With the close cooperation and meticulous treatment of the multidisciplinary team, the patient's condition gradually showed positive improvement.
Currently, the patient is conscious, breathing steadily, and able to eat independently. The overall condition is stabilizing, and the patient has been successfully transferred to the rehabilitation department to receive subsequent limb function rehabilitation treatment.
