Notice on Infected Patient with No Symptoms from Huanong Residential Area

Up till 12 am April 4th, 2020, there are two new positive cases (no symptoms) in Huangnong residential area: one from Xiyuan neighborhood Building 14 and one from Building 21. Starting today, all personnel in the neighborhood have to show their certificate of going back to work and their green code to enter and exit the neighborhood. Other people with no special reasons are not allowed to enter or exit. We are improving the prevention measures in the neighborhood and please be cooperative when our staff needs to check you.

We have confirmed that the situation is as follows:
  1. The infected person from Building 14 in Xiyuan neighborhood went to Hubei People’s Hospital on April 4th, 2020. The blood antibody test showed positive. This person is under quarantine in Banlisibu Hotel since then and 4 close contacts of them were also sent to a quarantine station on the same day.
  2. The infected person from Building 21 in Xiyuan neighborhood went to Hubei Tumor Hospital on April 4th, 2020. The blood antibody test showed positive. This resident stayed in Hubei Tumor Hospital for medical observation and was transferred to 672 Hospital on April 3rd. Three close contacts of them were sent to a quarantine station on the same day.
Now the epidemic prevention situation is not optimal and people who are tested positive but have no symptoms might just be next to us. Having zero confirmed cases doesn’t mean there is no risk. We shouldn’t slack off even a little bit. All residents please be rational and be supportive and cooperative with the epidemic prevention measures of different residential areas and neighborhoods. Please protect yourself by wearing a mask and washing your hands frequently.

We appeal to everyone to respect the privacy of the residents and don’t dig out other people’s personal information, spread or believe rumors. Apply for a health code if you don’t have one already. If you don’t have to go out to work then just stay home. Don’t go out to visit your friends or gather in public. Hope you and your family stay safe!

Coronavirus infections ‘reported among staff at hospital in Henan after medic returned from Wuhan’

Coronavirus infections ‘reported among staff at hospital in Henan after medic returned from Wuhan’

BY BRINKWIRE ON APRIL 19, 2020
A reported new coronavirus outbreak in China’s Henan province is said to have raised fears that there could be devastating second wave of the deadly virus.
A new cluster of cases has allegedly broken out among medical staff at Jia County’s People’s Hospital in the region.
One staff member is said to have only just come back from 14 days in quarantine after they returned from Wuhan in neighbouring Hubei province, where the virus first emerged at the end of last year.

News of the alleged new outbreak, which was reported by the Daily Express, came as China reported 16 new confirmed coronavirus cases on April 18, the lowest since March 17 and down from 27 a day earlier.

It means the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the mainland reached 82,735 as of April 18, while the total death toll from the virus stood at 4,632.

The claimed new COVID-19 outbreak has prompted authorities to impose travel restrictions.
Anyone coming in or out of residential compounds also needs to wear a facemask and have their temperature taken, according to an official document leaked to Radio Free Asia.
The Express also reported that businesses in Jia County are also closed except for supermarkets and farmers’ markets.
The paper quoted residents who opened up on Weibo, the country’s approved social media service, about what life is like.

One resident said: ‘Everything’s locked down. It just started.

‘All households are locked down. Nobody can go into town, or if you do, you won’t be able to leave again.’
Another resident said: ‘Many people believe that the epidemic has been brought under control due to government propaganda, which is false.

The news comes as authorities remain on guard against a major resurgence of he virus, which could be socially and economically destabilising.

Notably, the northeastern province of Heilongjiang has seen a surge in infected travellers arriving from Russia in recent weeks, and is now battling to contain a flare-up in local cases.
The data from China’s National Health Commission showed nine of the new cases reported on Saturday were imported infections, the lowest since March 13 and down from 17 a day earlier.

The remaining seven confirmed cases were locally transmitted, down from 10 the previous day.
Heilongjiang, in north-east China, has reported 39 new local cases in the past 10 days, or more than 50 per cent of all the new 73 local cases reported in the mainland during the same perio.....
To contain the outbreak quickly, the Heilongjiang government is cautioning against family gatherings, cross infections at hospitals, and slow reporting in epidemic investigations, according to a statement on the provincial government website....:tiphat:https://en.brinkwire.com/news/corona...ed-from-wuhan/

Recovered, almost: China's early patients unable to shed coronavirus
APR 22, 2020

.....“I really can’t take it anymore,” he said. Diagnosed with the novel coronavirus in early February, the man, who appeared to be in his 50s, had been treated at two hospitals before being transferred to a quarantine center set up in a cluster of apartment blocks in an industrial part of Wuhan.

Why, he asked, did tests say he still had the virus more than two months after he first contracted it?

The answer to that question is a mystery baffling doctors on the front line of China’s battle against COVID-19, even as it has successfully slowed the spread of the coronavirus across the country......

....Chinese doctors in Wuhan, where the virus first emerged in December, say a growing number of cases in which people recover from the virus, but continue to test positive without showing symptoms, is one of their biggest challenges as the country moves into a new phase of its containment battle.

Those patients all tested negative for the virus at some point after recovering, but then tested positive again, some up to 70 days later, the doctors said. Many have done so over 50-60 days.

The prospect of people remaining positive for the virus, and therefore potentially infectious, is of international concern, as many countries seek to end lockdowns and resume economic activity as the spread of the virus slows. Currently, the globally recommended isolation period after exposure is 14 days.

So far, there have been no confirmations of newly positive patients infecting others, according to Chinese health officials.

China has not published precise figures for how many patients fall into this category. But disclosures by Chinese hospitals to Reuters, as well as in other media reports, indicate there are at least dozens of such cases.

In South Korea, about 1,000 people have been testing positive for four weeks or more. In Italy, the first European country ravaged by the pandemic, health officials noticed that coronavirus patients could test positive for the virus for about a month.

As there is limited knowledge available on how infectious these patients are, doctors in Wuhan are keeping them isolated for longer.....:tiphat:https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/20.../#.XqSqISlKjb0
