The news that Beijing's Shijingshan District recently conducted an emergency drill for the prevention and control of a cluster of pneumonia of unknown cause has attracted attention from the outside world.
On August 7, the official website of Beijing Municipal Health Commission announced that recently, the Shijingshan District Health Commission organized an emergency drill for the prevention and control of clustered pneumonia of unknown cause in 2024. The drill simulated a family of two in the district who developed flu-like symptoms one after another, and took medicine on their own for 3 days without success. After consultation with experts, they reported a clustered pneumonia of unknown cause. The drill was divided into seven scenarios: epidemic discovery, epidemic reporting and emergency preparedness, epidemiological investigation and disposal, case transfer and subsequent information reporting, source handling, close contact management, and supervision and inspection, systematically showing the entire process of emergency response.
Regarding the reason for conducting the emergency drill, on August 16, the Shijingshan District Health Commission of Beijing responded to the First Financial reporter that this was a routine drill, mainly conducted in accordance with the work requirements such as the Beijing Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention's "Notice on Doing a Good Job in Emergency Drills for Infectious Diseases in 2024".
"Emergency drills are an important part of infectious disease outbreak preparedness, and their main purpose is to improve everyone's emergency response capabilities. Although the current epidemic situation is relatively stable, work capabilities cannot be degraded. Through emergency drills, we can improve our capabilities and promote reforms through training. In this way, when we encounter real problems, such as infectious diseases, we will have a team that can be pulled out to deal with them. Relevant emergency drills are conducted every year." said the Shijingshan District Health Commission of Beijing.
