On April 9, according to the Shanghai Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, three cadres in Minhang District were dealt with due to poor epidemic prevention and control:
1. Chen Dongfa, Secretary of the Party Committee of Meilong Town, and Zhang Zhen, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Mayor of the town, were ineffective in performing their duties in the epidemic prevention and control work. In the epidemic prevention and control work in Meilong Town, Chen Dongfa and Zhang Zhen failed to effectively curb the spread of the epidemic due to their ineffective leadership and organization. After research by the Standing Committee of the District Committee, it was decided to remove Chen Dongfa from the post of secretary and member of the Party Committee of Meilong Town; remove Zhang Zhen from the post of deputy secretary and member of the Party Committee of Meilong Town, and remove his post as mayor according to procedures.
2. The Xinhong Sub-district Office dispatched Li Weikang, the head of the special class in the isolation hotel, to leave without permission. When Li Weikang was in charge of the isolation hotel, he left the isolation hotel without authorization, violating the relevant epidemic prevention regulations of the isolation place. After the study and decision of the Xinhong Sub-district Party Working Committee, Li Weikang was suspended for inspection, and related issues are under further investigation.

Shanghai Municipal Health Commission announced on April 9: From 0 to 24:00 on April 8, 2022, there were 1,015 new confirmed cases of local new coronary pneumonia and 22,609 asymptomatic infections, of which 420 confirmed cases were previously asymptomatic infections.
