October 24, 2026, 19:48

[#Police Deny Swine Fever in Muchuan#: #Man Fined for Spreading Rumors of Swine Fever Using Dead Pig Image#] Recently, a man surnamed Jiang from Muchuan, Sichuan Province, was administratively punished by the public security authorities for spreading false information. ... reporters learned that on October 19, Jiang saw a picture of several dead domestic pigs online. To attract attention and gain traffic, he downloaded the picture and added the text "Swine fever has appeared again in Muxi Town, Muchuan; pigs can't be fed anymore" before posting it online. After discovering the post, cyber police immediately verified that there was no swine fever in the area. They ordered Jiang to delete the false information and summoned him for investigation. Faced with the investigation, Jiang confessed to spreading the rumor, and the public security authorities imposed an administrative fine on him according to law. The police remind everyone: the internet is not above the law; please do not create, believe, or spread rumors.
