patient li, male, 53 years old, from liuzhou, guangxi, now lives in dalingshan town, dongguan city. at present, patients in dongguan city's designated hospital active treatment.

EXPERTS CONCLUDED THAT THE CASE IS AN OCCASIONAL CASE, THE RISK OF TRANSMISSION OF THE VIRUS IS LOW AT THIS STAGE. EXPERTS REMIND: THE PUBLIC SHOULD CONTINUE TO BE VIGILANT AND TAKE THE FOLLOWING MEASURES TO PREVENT AVIAN INFLUENZA SUCH AS H5N6.

to be cooked: poultry and eggs should be cooked before eating.

CHP closely monitors human case of avian influenza A(H5N6) in Mainland

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health is today (September 23) closely monitoring a human case of avian influenza A(H5N6) in the Mainland, and again urged the public to maintain strict personal, food and environmental hygiene both locally and during travel.

The case involves a 53-year-old man living in Dongguan, Guangdong. There is a frequent appearance of wild birds and backyard chickens at the patient's home. He developed symptoms on September 13 and was admitted for treatment on September 18. The patient is in critical condition.

From 2014 to date, 44 human cases of avian influenza A(H5N6) have been reported by Mainland health authorities...
