China - MoA confirms H5N6 avian flu outbreak at duck farm in Hubei province - March 14, 2017

BEIJING, March 14 (Reuters) - China confirmed a bird flu outbreak, the country's sixth case since last October, at a duck farm in central Hubei province, according to a Ministry of Agriculture statement on Tuesday.
The outbreak in Daye, a city of more than 900,000 people, was confirmed as a case of the H5N6 strain of the virus, the ministry said in the statement on its website.
The local government culled 681 birds after the outbreak, which infected 134 ducks and killed 86 in a local farm, the statement said.
The outbreak is now under control, the ministry said.
The last bird flu outbreak in January killed 1,054 birds at a goose farm in central Hunan province.

March 6, Hubei Province, animal disease prevention and control center for the diagnosis of suspected avian influenza epidemic. March 14, confirmed by the National Avian Influenza Reference Laboratory, the outbreak of H5N6 subtype of highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak.
  After the epidemic, the local according to the relevant plans and control technical requirements, adhere to the law prevention and control, scientific prevention and control, and effectively do the work of the epidemic, has been culling and harmless treatment of 681 poultry. At present, the epidemic has been effectively controlled.
