December 28, 2025, 15:58

On December 28, Zhaoqing Hengli Senior High School issued a statement regarding the accident involving student Lai. The statement said that on December 17, 2025, Lai, a first-year high school student, suddenly collapsed after participating in routine morning exercises. The school immediately sent him to the hospital for emergency treatment, but he unfortunately passed away on December 25 despite all efforts to save him. Lai had not informed his homeroom teacher of any illness or requested leave before the morning exercises. As the flag bearer for the exercises, he carried a 2-meter-long flag weighing 0.45 kg. During Lai's hospitalization, the school arranged for dedicated personnel to accompany him and actively cooperated with his medical needs. Based on the hospital's recommendations, the school actively organized blood donations from teachers and students and launched a voluntary fundraising campaign. The school will use the donated funds properly in accordance with laws and regulations. The school will further cooperate with relevant departments to investigate the cause of the incident and handle the follow-up work in accordance with laws and regulations.
