Huasheng Online News, May 18 (all-media reporter Zhou Yangle, correspondents Cui Le, Wu Yaxiong, He Jiaolong, Shen Yong) On May 17, the 2025 Hunan Province Flood Disaster Emergency Medical Rescue Comprehensive Drill was held in Yangsha Lake Town, Xiangyin County, aiming to comprehensively enhance the province's emergency medical rescue capabilities to respond to flood disasters.
In view of the frequent occurrence of floods and waterlogging disasters in our province, this exercise was based on the assumption that a certain place encountered continuous heavy rainfall, mountain torrents and mudslides, resulting in 26 people being injured and trapped. Key links such as personnel transfer, treatment of the wounded, epidemic prevention and disinfection, and psychological intervention were set up, and the exercise was carried out in four stages: launching emergency response, conducting preliminary treatment, batch treatment of the wounded, and organizing withdrawal and collection. A total of 268 members of the Hunan Provincial People's Hospital National Emergency Medical Rescue Team and 13 municipal and county-level emergency medical rescue teams in Yueyang City, more than 30 various types of health emergency support vehicles, 1 rescue helicopter, 3 water assault boats, and 3 drones participated in the exercise. In response to the complex disaster situation, the exercise opened up water rescue and air rescue channels, forming a multi-dimensional integrated rescue force of water, land, and air, which won precious time for emergency medical rescue in extreme situations. During the exercise, the application of high-tech equipment and technologies such as drone exploration, assessment, search and rescue, and delivery of blood products, 5G remote consultation, and ECMO emergency treatment demonstrated Hunan's innovative achievements in the field of smart medical emergency.
The drill was hosted by the Provincial Health Commission, undertaken by Hunan Provincial People's Hospital, and co-organized by Yueyang Municipal Health Commission. According to reports, in recent years, our province has continued to strengthen the construction of the health emergency response system and has established a disaster medical rescue network covering the provincial, municipal and county levels. The successful holding of this drill marks that our province's medical rescue capabilities in response to major natural disasters have reached a new level and provided solid support for protecting the lives and health of the people.
