Jinan No. 5 Hospital carries out emergency drill for outbreak of multidrug-resistant bacteria infection
In order to further enhance the hospital's infection prevention and control emergency response capabilities and ensure the safety of patients' medical treatment, on the afternoon of April 2, the Infection Control Office of Jinan Fifth People's Hospital affiliated to Shandong Second Medical University organized an emergency drill for a multidrug-resistant bacterial infection outbreak in the emergency ward.
The drill was directed by Liu Liyan, deputy director of the hospital, and participated by multiple departments including the emergency ward, hospital infection control office, medical department, pharmacy department, microbiology laboratory, and infectious diseases department.
This drill simulated a scenario in which three cases of multidrug-resistant bacterial infection were discovered in the emergency ward, focusing on the five major links of "incident reporting, preliminary investigation, emergency plan activation, investigation and judgment, and control measures."
During the drill, all departments responded quickly, strictly followed the "Hospital Infection Management Measures" and emergency plan procedures, and completed key steps such as case discovery, reporting step by step, environmental sampling, isolation and protection, expert consultation, antimicrobial drug adjustment, and terminal disinfection. The Microbiology Laboratory quickly completed pathogen testing, and the expert group and the Pharmacy Department jointly formulated a precise diagnosis and treatment plan. The division of labor between departments was clear, the connection was smooth, and the on-site handling was tense and orderly.
After the drill, a review and summary of the drill was conducted.
