The drill simulated an emergency situation during an examination where a CT machine suddenly malfunctioned, preventing the tube from rotating and resulting in abnormal radiation exposure. The drill comprehensively tested the hospital's emergency response, on-site handling, and coordination capabilities in dealing with radiation safety incidents.

At the start of the drill, a staff member from the Imaging Department was performing a CT scan on a patient when the equipment suddenly malfunctioned. The console went out of control, and the patient continued to be exposed to radiation. Upon discovering the incident, the operator immediately pressed the emergency stop button and quickly moved the patient to a safe area. The staff also immediately reported the incident to the department head, activated the emergency plan, and notified relevant departments and units.
Upon receiving the report, the hospital quickly established an emergency command team to comprehensively coordinate and direct the emergency response. Relevant departments and personnel, including the Imaging Department, Emergency Department, Medical Department, Security Department, and Equipment Department, responded swiftly, each fulfilling their respective responsibilities and launching rescue operations in accordance with the emergency plan. Security personnel quickly arrived at the scene, established a cordoned area, and evacuated nearby personnel to prevent the incident from escalating. Emergency Department medical staff provided emergency treatment and preliminary diagnosis to the exposed patient, assessed his condition, and provided further treatment. Equipment Department technicians investigated and repaired the faulty equipment, quickly restoring normal operation.

Throughout the drill, all departments and sections worked closely together, strictly adhering to the emergency plan's procedures and requirements. They methodically completed all emergency response tasks, including accident reporting, on-site security, evacuation, medical treatment, and equipment repair. They successfully contained the incident within a short period of time, minimizing losses and impact. Following the drill, the hospital held a summary and evaluation meeting. Participating departments and personnel reviewed and analyzed the exercise, summarizing lessons learned, identifying existing problems and shortcomings, and proposing corresponding improvement measures.

The hospital will take this exercise as an opportunity to further improve the emergency plan, strengthen emergency training and drills, continue to strengthen radiation safety management, improve the radiation safety awareness and emergency response capabilities of all medical staff, and ensure the hospital's medical safety and the life and health of patients.
