GUANGZHOU - South China's Guangdong province reported 1,047 new cases of dengue fever on Friday, local health authorities said Saturday.

The total number of dengue fever cases reached 36,889 as of Saturday, according to the provincial health and family planning commission.

Among the 1,047 newly-infected, 378 were hospitalized on Friday, bringing the number of dengue patients in hospital to 2,482. More than 12,000 affected people have left hospital after being cured, according to the commission.

The number of cases reported from the province for nearly two weeks ( October 5 to October 19 ) point of view, this week?s daily average reduce the number of 286 cases reported the previous week and the total number of reported cases decreased by 20 % compared with last week ( mainly Guangzhou , Foshan ) .

MOSCOW, October 23 (RIA Novosti) - South China's Guangdong Province on Thursday reported 550 new dengue cases, bringing the total number up to 39,919, the National Health Planning Commission said as quoted by China News.

The disease has affected people living in the province’s 20 prefecture-level cities. The capital city of Guangzhou has so far reported 33,385 cases and is the hardest-hit, followed by Foshan with 3,289 cases...
