Shanghai Police: Man fined for fabricating information such as "neighborhood committee reselling 200,000 boxes of donated materials"

On April 6, false information such as "neighborhood committee reselling 200,000 boxes of donated materials" circulated on the Internet. After investigation by the Shanghai police, Chen Moumou (male, 33 years old), the publisher of the relevant false information, in order to gain attention and grandstanding, knew that the relevant vegetable department was contacting the residents to purchase a guaranteed supply package for the residents, but fabricated it as "this material is a donation. The materials and the neighborhood committee will own the money sold by themselves” and other false remarks. At present, Chen Moumou has been administratively punished by the public security organ according to law for picking quarrels and provoking trouble.
The police reminded that the Internet is not a place outside the law. The general public should obtain epidemic prevention information from official channels. Do not believe or spread rumors, and do not fabricate or forward unverified information, so as to jointly maintain a clean cyberspace and epidemic prevention order.
