Laiwu District Center for Disease Control and Prevention launches serological surveillance of people occupationally exposed to avian influenza

In order to further understand the current status of avian influenza virus infection among occupationally exposed people in wading poultry places in the region, and effectively protect the health and safety of occupationally exposed people, from March 7 to 12, 2024, the Laiwu District Center for Disease Control and Prevention conducted a comprehensive investigation on avian influenza viruses and occupational exposure to wading poultry in Jinan City. The "Implementation Plan for Serological Surveillance of Exposed Populations" requires the implementation of serological surveillance of occupationally exposed populations to avian influenza.
Select people who are in direct contact with poultry in three types of places (live poultry wholesale markets, poultry scale farms (households), poultry slaughtering and processing plants) as occupationally exposed people, draw procoagulant blood and collect their basic information, poultry contact history, etc., and fill in The "Sero-epidemiological Surveillance Questionnaire for Occupational Exposed Populations" also conducts health science popularization of avian influenza prevention and control knowledge among occupationally exposed populations. Serum specimens and questionnaires will be sent to the provincial and municipal CDCs.
Through this monitoring work, we can improve the health protection awareness of occupationally exposed people, help assess the current status of highly pathogenic avian influenza infections in occupationally exposed people, conduct timely risk assessments of the highly pathogenic avian influenza epidemic situation, and formulate prevention and control measures.
