  As July began, the number of COVID-19 infections increased again in the fever clinics of some hospitals in southern China.
  Data released by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on July 16 showed that the positive rate of COVID-19 among influenza-like illness cases in sentinel hospitals across the country rose to 11.9% from July 6 to July 12.
  This curve has been rising for several weeks: at the end of April, the positivity rate for COVID-19 among influenza-like illnesses nationwide was about 1.1%, rising to 2.0% at the end of May, and reaching 6.4% at the end of June. In June, the national medical report showed 79,000 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 130 severe cases and 1 death.
