Red Net Time News June 24 (Correspondent Huang Jian) In order to further enhance the medical staff's ability to respond quickly and coordinate with hospital infection outbreaks and strengthen their awareness of prevention and control, Yongzhou Fourth People's Hospital organized a hospital infection outbreak emergency response drill on the afternoon of June 23. The drill was commanded by the hospital's Party Committee Deputy Secretary and Dean Sui Shan'e, and the Deputy Dean Tang Wei served as the executive commander. The hospital infection control department presided over the drill, and the medical department, nursing department, logistics support department, laboratory department and other departments participated in the drill.
This drill simulated an emergency scenario in which three postoperative wound infections occurred in the general surgery ward. All three patients had symptoms such as wound redness, swelling, exudation, and fever. Laboratory tests confirmed that they were infected with the same methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), which was consistent with the characteristics of a hospital infection outbreak. During the drill, the investigation team found through epidemiological investigations and environmental hygiene tests that the source of infection was the hands and bedside tables of medical staff, and that the surgeons did not strictly implement hand hygiene and occupational protection requirements during the dressing process. The Nursing Department and the General Surgery Department implemented centralized isolation of infected patients, strengthened environmental disinfection, and strictly implemented hand hygiene and aseptic operation specifications. The medical expert group developed personalized treatment plans for patients and strengthened monitoring of critically ill patients.
After the drill, the hospital director, Sui Shan'e, and vice-director, Tang Wei, commented on the drill, fully affirming the quick response and coordination of all departments, and emphasized that infection prevention and control measures must be strictly implemented in daily work. Sui Shan'e pointed out in her summary: "The key point of the drill is to practice. Through this drill, all departments should promote reform through practice and implement infection prevention and control in every aspect of daily work."
Through this actual combat exercise, not only the scientificity and operability of the infection outbreak emergency plan were fully tested, but also a prevention and control mechanism of "early detection, rapid response, and strict treatment" was established through the coordinated handling of multiple departments. Yongzhou Fourth People's Hospital will adhere to the principle of "training for war and fighting for use", promote capacity improvement through regular exercises, ensure the quality of prevention and control with standardized processes, and strive to create a safe hospital that reassures patients and medical staff.
