[#6-Year-Old Girl Develops Acute Necrotizing Encephalopathy After Contracting Influenza A#] #Don't Mistake the Flu for a Common Cold# On November 14th (interview), a 6-year-old girl in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, contracted influenza A. She experienced persistent high fever, nausea, and vomiting. Within just two days, her condition worsened, leading to acute necrotizing encephalopathy, requiring ICU admission. Doctors learned from the family that during this flu season, the mother and three children in the family all contracted the virus, with the 6-year-old girl being the most severely affected. Doctors explained that influenza is a major contributing factor to acute necrotizing encephalopathy. Symmetrical lesions appear in the brain, causing brain tissue necrosis in a very short time. Without timely treatment, it can lead to a vegetative state or even death. We reiterate that influenza is not a common cold; it has a rapid onset and can easily lead to serious complications, even death. If a patient belongs to a high-risk group, they should seek medical attention as soon as possible and not delay.
