  health tips

Monkeypox is a zoonotic disease caused by monkeypox virus. The incubation period of monkeypox is usually 6-13 days and can be as long as 21 days. Infected people experience fever, headache, and swollen lymph nodes, followed by a rash on the face and other parts of the body that develops into pustules that last about a week before crusting over. Cases are contagious after the onset of symptoms until the rash scabs off naturally. Cases may have been infectious up to 4 days before symptom onset.
Monkeypox virus mainly invades the human body through mucous membranes and damaged skin, and is mainly transmitted through contact with infected animal or human skin and mucous membrane lesion exudates, respiratory secretions, blood and other body fluids. It is recommended that high-risk groups avoid close contact with suspected infected persons, especially male-to-male contact with a higher risk; avoid sharing daily necessities (such as bedding, clothing, etc.) with suspected infected persons. Pay attention to good hand hygiene, and wash your hands with soap and hand sanitizer in time under running water.
Once symptoms such as unexplained rash appear, seek medical attention in time, and inform the doctor of epidemiological history (including travel history, history of contact with people with monkeypox-like symptoms or high-risk exposure behaviors, etc.), and avoid close contact with others before scabs form.[/FONT]
