EFE/PAHOSantiago de Chile, Apr 26 (EFE).- The director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Jarbas Barbosa, warned this Wednesday that the avian flu that is plaguing all of South America could affect the supply of chicken meat, the main contribution of animal protein in the region, which would have an impact on the diet of thousands of people.


"The covid-19 pandemic increased food insecurity and extreme poverty in South America, and we are concerned that avian flu is now creating a problem with chicken production in the region, which is one of the most accessible animal proteins "Barbosa, who is visiting Chile, told EFE.
