Santiago de Chile .- The Chilean health authorities confirmed today that the influenza A in this country and 1694 people infected, the highest number of the nations of South America.
According to the Institute of Public Health, believes the figure since May 17, when it was announced that the first affected by influenza A, until June 8, and two fatalities.
The report reflects a portion of the total cases, because, according to specified authorities, there is an undetermined number of cases that have not been confirmed by the examination taken by the Institute of Public Health.
1.7 per cent of confirmed cases has required hospitalization and a 0.12 percent (2 cases) had died, said the state agency.
This situation is similar to that seen in United States, where there is a low rate of hospitalization (7.8%) and deaths (0.2%), added the ISP.
He added that 63 percent of reported cases is now healthy and 35.3 percent of patients are at home without complications.
School children (between 5 and 19 years) were the most affected.
