Chikungunya, Due casi confermati sulla parte francese di San Martin


Il 5 dicembre 2013, le autorit? sanitarie francesi hanno confermato due casi di trasmissione autoctona di Chikungunya nell?area francese dell?isola caraibica di San Martin.

Vista l?elevata frequenza di turisti europei sull?isola e l?avvicinarsi delle vacanze invernali, il 12 dicembre l?Ecdc ha pubblicato il rapid risk assessment ?Autochthonous cases of chikungunya fever on the Caribbean island, Saint Martin? (pdf 481 kb).

Il documento sottolinea che la trasmissione della malattia all?uomo avviene attraverso la puntura di zanzare infette e, che, per evitare la malattia ? necessario proteggersi.

Il documento conclude che attualmente il rischio di trasmissione in Europa, attraverso i casi importati, ? basso in quanto il vettore competente non ? attivo durante i mesi invernali.

Nell?isola ? anche in corso, da gennaio 2013, un focolaio di febbre dengue.
