Alejandro Alvarado Robles, manager of epidemiology at the health unit, said that people already have completed their treatment, but that people should continue with the health measures to prevent future outbreaks.
"Frequent hand washing is essential. Although it's cold, people should not stop this practice, "he said.
He added that people who present symptoms related to human influenza should go to health center or consultation with their family physician as self-medication can be counterproductive.
Statistics from the Health Jurisdiction II indicate that in Ciudad Juarez have submitted 459 cases of influenza A H1N1 since the outbreak of this virus.
In addition to confirmed cases, 406 have been sent samples to be analyzed but negative results.
Among the recommendations of the health sector in Ciudad Juarez to prevent infection with this virus include: washing hands with soap and water constantly, away from people with respiratory ailments and seek medical advice if you have fever, muscle pain, headaches and joints and a persistent cough.
Besides preventive measures, health personnel as well as pregnant women in third trimester can be vaccinated against human influenza virus.

Despite the outbreak of A H1N1, diabetes and heart ailments hoard queries

Nancy Gonzalez Soto
The Journal | 30.12.2009 | 21:57 | Local

While human influenza captured the attention of health units to the outbreak and spread of this viral disease, complications of chronic diseases are the leading cause of consultation in the Emergency Department, reported the health sector.
"The poor control of disease and the complications of diabetes mellitus and heart disease are leading causes of consultation and death in Ciudad Juarez, said Alejandro Alvarado Robles, manager of epidemiology at the Health Jurisdiction II.
He indicated that people with these conditions must take strict control, go to their annual reviews, follow a balanced diet and regular exercise because, otherwise, can cause complications.
Data provided by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) reflect that the decompensation in patients with diabetes, hypertension and gout patients control a large percentage of consultations in the Emergency Department.
Indicate that outweigh people that fail to control their disease or do not take their medications as complications such as numbness of limbs and various ailments.
Data from health departments in Ciudad Juarez indicate that five diseases caused more deaths in the year due to decompensation and failure in its control are: diabetes, heart disease, cirrhosis caused by excessive alcohol intake and chronic diseases of the liver, cerebro-vascular diseases and acute respiratory diseases.
Once introduced the outbreak of the H1N1 influenza A number of reviews for this condition has picked up and reached up to a thousand queries per week.
To date, 929 samples were taken from laboratory to detect human influenza of which 459 were positive and 64 are in the process while the rest were negative.
"It's important for people to visit health centers as having symptoms similar to influenza A H1N1 or tend to dismiss it," said Alvarado Robles.
Although visits for symptoms of viral disease increased in the last quarter of 2009 did not exceed those consultations or decompensated chronic conditions.

Seasonal influenza Leaves 83 cases in 2009

Nancy Gonzalez Soto
The Journal | 01.01.2010 | 21:29 | Local

In 2009 there were 83 cases of seasonal influenza in Ciudad Juarez, but from September, it increased the number of patients with this viral disease, said Health Jurisdiction II.
"It is essential to continue the hygiene measures, especially hand washing with soap. People with symptoms similar to influenza must be submitted to the Health Center to review and confirm whether it is seasonal or A H1N1 to receive proper treatment, "said Alejandro Alvarado Robles, manager of epidemiology at the health unit.
He said that as temperatures drop, people fail to wash their hands frequently, a situation that can lead to the development and spread of the virus.
He added that self-medication is counterproductive because it hides symptoms and is sometimes difficult to determine whether the patient has a common cold, respiratory infection or influenza.
Health Jurisdiction II announced that some of the samples sent to laboratory for detecting human influenza (A H1N1) tested positive for seasonal influenza.
In order to avoid getting seasonal flu, in addition to sanitary and hygienic measures, adults age 60 and infants under age 3 have free access to biological against this illness in health centers.
The rest of the population has the option of vaccination in other places but has a biological cost.
Seasonal flu is a highly contagious disease by air that develops more easily in places with large concentration of people.
It is transmitted by respiratory droplets caused by sneezing, coughing, shaking hands or touching objects contaminated with the virus and its symptoms are similar to the flu, but more severe.
The clinical picture of those affected is high fever of 38 degrees Celsius or more, headache, severe fatigue and malaise, dry cough, sore throat, nasal congestion and aching joints.
Among the recommendations of the Health Sector to avoid getting seasonal flu are: the constant washing of hands with soap and water, avoid contact with people with respiratory ailments and seek medical advice if you have any of the above symptoms.
