Chicken flies off from Musharraf?s menu!
Islamabad: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf might be the most powerful person in his country, but one decision of his juniors has gone against his taste buds!
Following the scare of bird flu in Islamabad, his Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri and Foreign Secretary Riaz Muhammad have decided to keep chicken delicacies and eggs out of the menu at the Aiwan-i-Sadr, the official residence of Musharraf.
Following the directive from the Foreign Office, serving chicken meat and eggs in official functions have been stopped with immediate effect.
The guests were not served any chicken dish or even eggs as ingredients of other dishes, at the function recently held on the occasion of administering the oath to the new Federal and Ministers of State by President Pervez Musharraf, on Tuesday, The Nation reported.
Quoting official sources, the paper said that more than five thousand chickens have been culled in the two poultry farms at Chak Shehzad and Tarlai located in Islamabad.
