BRUCE LOWELL BRUSVEN
Bruce Lowell Brusven Bruce Lowell Brusven was born Nov. 29, 1944, and passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009. He fought a courageous battle for five weeks from the complications of the H1N1 virus and pneumonia. Services to celebrate Bruce's life will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue with a chapel service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, 450 W. Lake St. (? mile west of Bloomingdale/Roselle Road), Roselle. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife and best friend of 40 years, Nancy (nee Sommers); and his wonderful children, Traci (Brian) Taylor, Gregg (Rebekah), Bryan (Colleen) and Jeff (Allie Brakus) Brusven. He was Papa to Brooke, Natalie, Cheyenne, Madison, Matthew and Lauren; dear brother of Ron (Gina), Al (Bonnie) and Myron (Lori) Brusven; and favorite uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was an important member of the "bob sled team," his close knit family of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice and Edwin Brusven; his father-in-law, Frank Sommers; his mother-in-law, Sue Sommers; and his brother-in-law, Robert Albert. He was a retired Teamster Local 673 for 30 years, a bridge builder for the CS Construction Company, president of H.P.B.F.A. football and was inducted into the BGYFL Hall of Fame. He coached in Hanover Park for more than 20 years in girls basketball, boys football, basketball and baseball. He was a referee for flag football and basketball and thoroughly enjoyed all the pool tournaments he was in. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, but most importantly he was a loving husband, father and grandpa, and the core of his family and friends. He will be truly missed. "We all love you Bruce."
