State-wide swine flu alert declared

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh health department issued a state-wide swine flu alert on Thursday, after a patient was tested positive in Raipur. This is the first positive case this year.


Director, health services, Dr Kamalpreet Singh issued instructions to all chief medical and health officers to adopt all preventive measures to deal with the disease. "Necessary medicines for the treatment of swine flu patients have already been made available to all chief medical officers, civil surgeons and medical colleges of the state. At present, the central store has ample stock of medicines," said Singh.

WOMAN DIES OF SWINE FLU, ALERT SOUNDED

The Health Department has issued an alert in all the hospitals of Raipur district following death of a woman from swine flu infection last night in a private hospital in the city.

However, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr K R Sonwani maintained that there is no complaint of the swine flu infection spreading in Raipur district but an alert had been sounded across the district folloing the death of a patient.

The woman who succumbed to the swine flu infection had attended the Kumbh mela with her family in Allahabad. After returning from Kumbh mela, her child developed pneumonia with cough and cold.

The child was admitted in a city-based private hospital where he recovered. However the infection got transmitted to his mother, he informed. The woman was admitted about 20 days back in a private hospital in critical condition and she breathed her last yesterday night.
